The Susan Hauser Designs Story
Thank you for your interest in Susan Hauser Designs.
As a new website and it is still being designed so more jewelry will be added soon!
Susan Hauser Designs was created over 15 years ago while I was raising three young children in Charleston, SC. I discovered a small local art studio where I learned artisan techniques for making my own jewelry and my passion for jewelry design soon grew into a business as I was continually asked to create custom pieces.
I began selling through a local art gallery, East Bay Gallery, and began learning more about the qualities of gemstones and their beauty in jewelry design. I love working with them as they as they are unique products of the earth and when faceted reflect the interplay between light and nature. The hues and colors of the gems speak to us individually and have been worn as adornment throughout history to invoke feelings of serenity, calm and inner beauty.
My love of estate jewelry grew out of my time spent designing and selling jewelry through additional local art galleries and shops in Charleston, including the Orient Express Boutique at Charleston Place. A city that is rich in history, as well as art, it offers plenty of opportunity to hunt for unique treasures and I developed a passion for incorporating vintage finds into my designs.
I continuously find inspiration in the colors of the southern sunsets and historical architecture of the city. The serenity of the sea and sweeping marshes woven throughout the landscape are also a part of the everyday existence that feed the soul.
I try to recreate that beauty through my collection of estate jewelry redesigned with the highest quality colorful gems and pearls. I also love to create custom pieces for clients who have a treasured family heirloom or would like to choose from my collection of estate and vintage lockets and religious medals.
The Fleur de lis, my logo, is a reminder of my college days as a Kappa Kappa Gamma and the sisters who have always remained faithful and strong friends.
I also have found myself drawn to adore all things French and feel influenced by classic European design. I hope you love wearing each piece as much as I have enjoyed creating it!
